In the 1800s when Americans took an interest in breeds and breeding procedures they found them in great amounts in the Mexican city of Chihuahua. From this city, they got their name.

Nowadays Chihuahua is considered a symbol of royalty and high luxurious status. They are one of the extremely popular and expensive pet companions.

History of Rottweiler

Rottweilers are considered one of the oldest breed. The history of the Rottweiler dog breed dates back to the 1901 and originated from Germany, after the Roman soilers abandoned the region. They were believed to be used as herd dogs due to their intelligent nature and strong work ethic.

In the Middle Ages, Rottweilers became workings dogs, especially for local butchers on buying expeditions. They would carry money in a neck pouch, acting as guard dogs.

How to Care for Your Chihuahua Rottweiler Mix

Exercise

Chihuahua Rottweiler Mixes are a very energetic breed so they must get enough exercise every day.

Long walks, playing games like fetch, or even just running around the fence is enough to give them their daily dose of physical activity.

If they don’t get their daily exercise or some other physical activity they become more aggressive and destructive because they cannot channelize their energy.

Grooming

Rottweiler Chihuahua Mixes need more grooming compared to other dogs. Regular grooming and brushing is very important for keeping their hair shiny and smooth.

Areas near the ears, neck, and tail are very sensitive and need gentle and careful brushing and grooming.

Short hair Chihuahua Rottweiler Mixes require only grooming once a month and once a week brushing to keep their fur good and healthy.

Those with long-haired coat requires grooming once a month but with regular brushing to avoid having skin problems. Brushing their coat after every three to four days days results in shiny and smooth hair.

Training

Chihuahua Rottweiler mix puppy training is not an easy task. They are quite stubborn sometimes which makes their training a little bit tough for their owners.

It is very important to do early, proper and consistent training. With proper and early training these behavioral problems can be solved.

Health

Like most dog breeds, Chihuahua Rottweiler Mix tends to inherit disorders from both parents.

Common health problems include luxating patella, commonly known as “trick knee”. This condition happens when the knee cap shifts out of the normal position in the joint, causing pain and discomfort.

Hip dysplasia is where the hip joint does not develop properly and the socket is too shallow. This is another common problem seen in Rottweiler Chihuahua Mixes due to their heavy body and small legs.

Other issues include obesity, hypothyroidism, hypoglycemia and Von Willebrand Disease.

Are Rottweiler Chihuahua Mixes Aggressive?

Rottweiler Chihuahua Mix gets the aggression trait from their parent breeds as Rottweilers and Chihuahuas both are aggressive breeds.

A Rottweiler Chihuahua mix puppy shows aggression through various actions, like biting things, growling, and breaking or tearing things are some ways by which they show their angry reaction.

Final Words on Chiweilers

Chihuahua Rottweiler mix is unique, and their specific traits can vary. It’s recommended to learn about the parent breed and spend time with the individual dog to understand their specific needs and care requirements.
